Within the second episode of Bravo’s Shear Genius, it wasn’t being cut from a challenge that had Giacomo leave the show, but his three children at home. Awww how sweet! This means more opportunity for the others.

So for the first haircut “short cut” challenge, Shear Genius competitors had to work their magic on blondes who took damaged and over processed dye jobs to a whole new level. So in this first challenge, they were to transform their model’s hair making it sleeker and healthier looking. These models were somewhat challenging since most did not want to go outside of being blond and the stylists were unable to convince their clients to think outside the box. And since they were unable to be persuasive, they became creative with adding warmth, cooper tones, platinum highlights, and shine to their models preferred blonde hair.

During the challenge, Brian actually managed to get bleach in his model’s eye. Whoops and yikes!! You can bet he was one of the least of the judge’s favorites since he was unable to finish the competition. But after the review, the winner of the short cut competition was Matthew turning the most damaged blondie into a red bombshell.

The final cut challenge had the stylists creating hair style for a server based on a tasting menu and assigned one dish. Based on color, texture, and taste, they had to translate the dish into a creative hair style! Inspired by sushi dishes, cheeseburgers, salads, and dessert these stylists used hair extensions, bright colors, food props and more to create exotic, sexy, and glamorous styles (well most were able to do that!)

Famous celebrity judge, Joel Warren was last night’s guest judge. Who impressed him and the other judges? In the top three, it was the men who ruled this challenge. Jon, Matthew and Brian did the best all being able to execute their dish visions perfectly in their model’s haircut style. It was Jon who ultimately won last night’s challenge. Did you see how excited he was!?

The women didn’t really make the cut with Amy, Arzo, and Brig ranking in the bottom three. Their creations falling apart, unpolished, and overall just not “shear genius” enough and judges weren’t able to see any inspiration from the dishes they were assigned. Not really impressing the judges with her finished hairstyle, it was Arzo who was sent home.

A good stylist knows that a good haircut starts with using a great set of shears. A pair of the Kamisori Black Diamond Shears is sure to help get you the styling results you want. In order to provide your client with confidence in your ability to deliver great service and a great cut and style, you must bring out the best shears that will give them their new look. People take a lot of pride maintaining their hair with the right products and nutrients and to keep up with the freshest styles, so they come to you as a hair expert. Choosing the right shears isn’t easy so let me help direct you to a brand you can’t go wrong with! There are so many blades, types, colors, and features to choose from. But Kamisori alone gives you a great selection to choose from.

Make sure of course to choose a handle that best fits your preferences so that you are sure to not cause strain on your hand or fingers. You can research different blade types but two that are currently popular in the industry are the Bevel blade and Convex blade. Bevel Blades have been around a little longer so are slightly outdated with comfort. They do require more tension so again just do your research and read other reviews to make sure this blade is for you. Convex blades are newer to the scene and between the Bevel blade and Convex blade, this one is more popular among stylists.

These blades are great for layered cuts, curly and thick hair, straight hair, generally all hair types. You can also cut any length of hair with these shears. Kamisori shears will give you the precision you want to achieve in a great haircut. Your clients will come back again and again and notice the difference with this professional shear. Using professional shears will help maintain your client’s hair conditions and prevent split ends.

Cutting your clients hair will never be easier and “cleaner” than with the Kamisori Black Diamond Shears. As you know most clients come in with Hollywood celebrity pictures and styles and you will be able to deliver a cut that makes them look just like their favorite celeb! Remember to show them ways to style it once they leave the salon because they will want to keep looking stylish once they leave the salon!

Check out these sassy and sharp 5” Black Diamond Shears made by Kamisori. As most stylists know already, these skillfully designed shears are what will make your salon tool set perfect!

These professional shears come from the Kamisori Titanium Collection and are very popular among Hollywood hairstylists, these shears are sure to be on your favorite list of shears too. The shears are crafted using v-10 cobalt steal, Japanese steel containing several elements that ensures good quality. This allows a very sharp cut through every follicle of hair making precision perfect. The firm feel these shears have in your hand, gives you a sense of control and a slightly heavier feel, but still allowing you the flexibility you need for a perfect hairstyle and cut.

What makes titanium fancy? Well in this case when its comes to coating your shears, the added benefit is cutting ability. The titanium layer creates micro-serrations giving more edge to the shears. It also creates the Kamisori’s Black Diamond signature look, giving a professional appearance to you and your customers, adding confidence to each hair cut you give and identifies you as the hair expert your clients want you to be and will continue coming back to for years. This is also key for the stylists who create their own pricing or for salon owners who know that the more professional your set-up is at the salon, the more an expert you become in the industry, giving you a better advantage to the competitors and allows for higher prices for the services your salon offers.

What else do the Kamisori Black Diamond Shears offer? They are designed with a spring-click tension and crane handle design giving you a perfect ergonomically constructed shear. Putting this creative and flexible ergonomic design in the hands of the high performing hair stylist they had in mind when designing it, makes hours of work at the salon tolerating and more comfortable and doesn’t compromise the your ability to work with your hands for hours.

Now you can get through your day with ease and service numerous clients with the most fashionable haircuts throughout your day without getting tired. Remember again the ability to turnover more clients quickly throughout your day, means more money in your pockets and in your paycheck! This means that although these shears might be somewhat expensive, you will definitely get your money’s worth out of them.

Bravo’s Shear Genius kicked off Season 3 last night and introduced a new team of hair stylist competitors! The challenges will test these twelve stylists from all over the world to make their mark in the industry with cutting edge creativity. The winner will take home a grand prize of $100,000 awarded by Nexxus Salon Hair Care, a Nexxus apprenticeship and an opportunity to style hair for an Allure magazine photo shoot.

Orlando Pita, a world-renowned fashion and beauty expert, was the guest mentor of last night’s competition offering professional advice during their competitions. Each episode features two competitions, where stylists are given two hours to transform their clients or models for competitions. The first challenge is a short cut where stylists get an opportunity to demonstrate their hair cutting, texturing, and coloring skills with clients in the traditional salon setting, the second being the elimination challenge. For the elimination round, stylists teamed up with swimwear company, L*Space to create unique bikini top styles (using hair styles of course) covering only the top portion of their body, as models were only to be wear their bottoms for a risqué fashion show. Guest judge was L*Space’s creator and swimwear designer, Monica Wise. Tops were created using braids, frizz, twists, wraps, long locks and more. Competitors tried to replicate the looks of halter tops and even a simulated fabric look.

After judges reviewed and discussed, in the top three came April, Janine, and Brig. Janine won the overall competition. The bottom three left Joey, Amy, and Adee in elimination panic. Their styles were either unpolished or lacked creativity placing them in the position of potential elimination. Ultimately, it was Joey, a popular Australian hair stylist and part-owner of Rokk Ebony salon, who they said good-bye to and had him pack his bags. Although being the first cut from Shear Genius’s competition, he still leaves with prestigious Hair Expo Australian Hairdresser honors (being one of four finalists this year), and has made a name for himself directing hair at the Perth Fashion Festival.

Eleven stylists are now one step closer to the $100,000 grand prize. The competitions are sure to get harder and with some of the personalities we saw last night, I’m sure we’ll also witness a little drama as the competitions start getting a little fiercer!

Emo as described by Wikipedia, is often used more generally “….to describe related aspects of fashion, culture, and behavior”. The Emo hairstyle being one of individual expression, making statements, and wearing your hair in whatever fashion that makes you content. Some guy celebs who are most recently notable for branching out and bringing in the “emo hairstyle” are celebrities Pete Wentz and Adam Lambert. The typical emo look most guys go for is the fringe look, using shears to cut their bangs at an angle across the face, which fall down the front of one eye. Others go for a short spiky look. Some add color, a dramatic jet black look against softer skin tones. Others go a little further adding in splashes of one or several bold colors. Although, originating during the punk rock days of the 1980’s, these boys are making big statements with their personal hair style choices and bringing back this pretty hot trend to the alternative-rock world!
